In this blog we will share our experiences from our trips around the world. Since December 2015 our focus has been on travel. We are planning to be on the road until August 2018, what happens after that we will find out then. // Christel & Johan
(Iguazu falls, Argentina (and Brazil), 24-27th of November 2017)
We took a flight from Buenos Aires to get to Iguazu falls, a place we really had looked forward to visit. We started with staying at a hotel in the small town of Puerto Iguazu. From there we took a tour with a bus to see the Brazilian side of the falls. It was a great tour but the weather was terrible – the rain was pouring down from the minute we arrived to the falls.
(Puerto Montt to Puerto Natales, Chile, 17-20th of November 2017)
Instead of taking a flight or going by bus through the southern part of Chile we booked us on a cargo ship. We booked a private cabin with window and bathroom and we had to pay almost 1000 US dollars each, a high price for a relatively low standard but we guess it is the experience we pay for, not the standard… 🙂
(The Salt Desert, Bolivia, 5-7th of November 2017)
We were quite happy when we after a two night stay could pack our things and prepare to leave Uyuni. We walked down to the travel agency were we met our guide and the other participants. Our backpacks were stoved on the roof of the jeep and we travelled five of us in every vehicle together with a guide and a driver.
(Machu Picchu, Peru, 24-25th of October 2017)
As we decided to get to Machu Pichi the ”comfortable way” we started with taking a taxi to the train station right outside the city center in Cusco. The train then took 3,5 hours and the ride took us between high mountains and along beautiful rivers.
(Amazonas, Ecuador, 4-8th of October 2017)
After a last swim in the hot pool in Papallacta we packed our things and took a taxi down to the main road where the bus leaves for Lago Agrio, the meeting point for our Amazon tour.
The bus came within half an hour and six bumpy hours later, we arrived to Lago Agrio which turned out to be a really boring town if you are there as a tourist! The most funny thing we did was trying to find an ATM that worked with our cards (we found a lot of them but it was not til the 4th one we got any cash.) and then to have an Ecuadorian chinese meal, which we really enjoyed.
We met our bus driver at 9 am at a meeting point rather close to the hotel we stayed in. After picking up some more people and paying for the tour (3 nights and four days for 320 USD per person) we travelled a couple of hours on the bus before arriving to the river and our canoe.
(Medellin, Colombia, 20-24th of September 2017)
Our first impression, when arriving in Medellin with a taxi from the airport, was not that positive. Our hotel was situated along a really busy road and we were a bit overwhelmed by the noise and the smell. When we arrived in our room we could still hear the cars pretty loud but decided to try to be positive, as we had booked the room for three nights because it had a really good rate on Booking.com. And somehow we got used to the noise, we even ended up booking an extra night at the end.
