A couple of days in lovely Hoi An
(Hoi An, Vietnam, 8-10th of February)
As we really enjoyed our tour with TNT travel in Hue we decided to also use them for the transport from Hue to Hoi An. They offered a bus tour from Hue to Hoi An with sightseeing along the way. We were going to be picked up at 8 o´clock in the reception and when it was 8.15 a guy from the reception helped us to call the company and were told that our bus was stuck in traffic. But just a few minutes later the guy from the hotel called up on us and said our transport was outside. We were picked up by a small van and then moved to a bigger bus. We got the last seats and the bus departed. Half an hour later the guide on the bus came and told us there had been a mistake and that we were on the wrong bus. We were on the express bus to Hoi an instead of the sightseeing bus we had booked. We were let of the bus and had to wait at the roadside for 45 minutes. We had been told we were going to be picked up after 15 minutes and had almost given up when our bus finally arrived.
We missed the first stop along the route but got to see the rest of the sights. The last one, the marble mountain, was the best! It was a mountain with temples, cool caves to climb through and the most impressing temple room situated in a large cave with a hole in the ceiling.
The light was fantastic and made the entire place really magic.
In Hoi An we stayed in a hotel a couple of kilometers from the city center but the hotel had complementary bicycles which made the distance less disturbing.
Hoi An is a very touristy but very beautiful city, especially in the evenings.
Everywhere you can see chinese lamps in different colours and people are travelling on small boats on the river.
To access the old town of Hoi An you buy a ticket (110.000 dong/4,5 USD) wich make it possible for you to visit five of the old buildings and museums in the town.
We bought tickets and saw one really old private house, an assembly hall and a museum but to walk around on the streets was really the highlight of Hoi An.
