Uyuni, a sad town in the middle of nowhere

(Uyuni, Bolivia, 4-5th of November 2017)

Our stay in La Paz was really short. At 5.30 in the morning we took a taxi to the airport to fly south to Uyuni, the only place we planned to visit in Bolivia.

Uyuni is a small and modest town in the middle of the desert and it looks a bit like a forgotten dusty town from “the Wild West”. Our hostel was a clean but kind of ugly place, the peak of that stay was a fantastic breakfast with pancakes, good bread and fruit.

To find a restaurant with descent food was not that easy in Uyuni. We had our first meal in a restaurant where they did not have a menu and they only spoke Spanish. We ordered their daily dish, a three coarse meal with soup, chicken and dessert. A really good meal it turned out.

In the evening we found a restaurant (with a menu) with a mix of pizza, traditional Bolivian food and Korean food.

The rest of our stay in Uyuni we spent buying a lot of water and snacks to bring along on the trip we had booked  through the Salt desert.
