A stay at the end of the world
(Arequipa, Peru, 28-30th of October 2017)
When we booked the hotel in Arequipa we had an idea that we should stay outside the town for a couple of days to get some nice days rest. The taxi driver at the airport looked a bit strange at us when we showed him the address to the hotel and asked why we had decided to stay there in the middle of nowhere…
When we got there we understood what he meant. It is a nice hotel but it is in the middle of nothing. At first it seemed as we were the only guests but during the day some more people showed up.
The hotel was really fancy with a pool, a gym and a nice garden. But there were no restaurants around! We finally found one but could not understand the menu and gave up. Fortunately the food in the restaurant of the hotel turned out to be amazing and we enjoyed some really good meals there.
The pool area was a disappointment. Yes, it was nice and clean, there were sun beds but… there were also loads of sand flies! Christel got a lot of bites during her half hour session by the pool.
