Hot springs in Papallacta
(Papallacta, Ecuador, 3-4th of October 2017)
While in Quito we booked a four-day tour to the Amazon rainforest and as the bus trip to Lago Agrio, where the excursion starts, was quite long, we decided to divide it to two shorter trips, by staying one night in Papallacta on the way to Lago Agrio. Papallacta is a small group of houses two hours away from Quito, and it is known for it´s hot springs. We booked a room in a fancy hotel where you have free entrance to the hot springs and as a bonus get hot springs directly outside your bungalow. It was an amazing place!
As we arrived in the afternoon we had time to go swimming in the pools, talking a walk to visit a waterfall and we also had some time to relax in our room.
As we wanted to se a bit more than our fancy hotel we decided to visit one of the local restaurants to have dinner. We turned out to be the only guests in the restaurant we chosed and it turned out that the owner and his family lived in the restaurant and the dining room was their living room with their kids running around which gave us a welcoming feeling although we had to keep our warm clothes on as the room was wery cold because Papallacta is situated at a high altitude. We shared a really good salami pizza surrounded by family members, altogether a nice experience.
When we got back from the restaurant we ended up in the hot pool right outside our room – so nice!
