Now Christel is a yoga teacher!
(Bali, Indonesia, 2nd to 30th of July 2017)
I can’t believe my yoga teacher training in Bali is over – I am actually an yoga teacher now!
It has been 4 weeks of hard work but with a lovely group of people who have supported each other along the way.
For me the language has been an issue – something I did not had thought about earlier. Anatomy in English is not a piece of cake and not to talk about how hard it gets when it comes to philosophy. To teach a yoga class in English was not that bad but the words do not come as easy as in Swedish and when the nerves set in everything can get a bit mixed up. I have a memory of trying to remember easy words like foot or heel during my Practicums. I am happy we got two chances to teach, first a 30 minutes class and then another one that was 60 minutes long.
Samastiyoga has put together a teacher training course with a lot of variation. We have done different cleansing procedures – like drinking water and then throw up – and we have tried a lot of different meditation techniques. I have really enjoyed the really deep works we have done, like yoga Nidra, some crazy breathworks and different work with music as an important factor.
The venue, Samadi Too ,we stayed in was really beautiful on the outside but was not solid when It came to how the whole place was built. Too many holes in the structure resulted in a wild animal life inside our room. But I really enjoyed the yoga shala and the lecture area with really comfortable bean bags.
We have been 26 people in our group, and I have really enjoyed getting to know every single one of these people. We were 5 of us being a bit more “mature” 🙂 and then the youngest girl was 19 years old. A lot of nationalities
have been represented. A lot of people from Australia and New Zealand, some Danish and German girls, a couple from Switzerland and some single ones from Kazakhstan and USA.
On exam day of our course we had a fire ceremony with an Indonesian priest, Samasti yoga handed out our diplomas and roses and as the final of this day we had a magic ceremony at the beach.
Next step is to start to think about how, where and when to teach yoga. We have another year of travelling but time flies and we are rapidly getting closer to the end of 2018 when we maybe will end our full-time nomadic way of living.
