A lot of kangaroos on Kangaroo Island!

(Kangaroo Island, Australia, 24th of February 2017)

Our breakfast was served at 07.00 and 8.00 o’clock, we were ready for departure.
Our first stop was at the Remarkable Rocks. Nothing special with some rocks, we thought, but they were actually very fascinating. The Remarkable Rocks are a pile of huge boulders of unusual shapes leaning against each other on a cliff by the sea. Many photos were taken there!

Our next stop this day was a forest with lots of koalas. It took a while before we saw the first koala, but then more and more of them showed up. They are very lazy and often sit still and hang on a branch. We were lucky and saw a koala climbing down from one tree and up into another.

As a bonus, we heard one of the koalas scream – it is strange that a little cute teddy can sound like a crazy pig, it is not what you expect.

The lunch that day we ate in a park. We all helped to chop the vegetables and roast chicken and the chicken wraps we ended up with were fantastically good.

In the afternoon we stopped at a few different places. Down by the water we saw black swans and pelicans, and along the way we saw lots of kangaroos. That is the great advantage of traveling with a bus ride and to have a guide who knows exactly where to look to find many wild animals.

The ferry back to the mainland departured at 19.30 from Kangaroo Island and at the ferry terminal we waved goodbye to Greg and also Rob (the sheep farmer), who had come to the ferry location to pick up his wife and mother who would come by boat from the mainland.

After the boat ride we had two hours of travel time by bus back to Adelaide. A fun trip with many experiences of 1800 per person. Not a cheap entertainment but well worth the money if you think about all we got.
