Australia – here we come!

(Brisbane, Australia, 3e February 2017)

This morning we had some time to spare before we had to go to Christchurch airport for onward travel to Australia, so we had time for the city’s Art Gallery, which despite two impressive and quite humorous statues outside the gallery did not impress on us.

e also had time for another museum – unfortunately I do not know what it was called – but it was more like a traditional Swedish museum with glass jars and signs with a lot of text …

Once again, we would now fly to Australia, and once again, we expected to get stuck in customs with our bikes. But we were just waved through – this time it was not even a real customs procedure with scanning of the baggage, but only someone who checked our papers and asked some questions. We had pre-booked a taxi to our accommodation and we were lucky as our bike boxes just fitted in the car. We had booked an apartment at Colonial Village, a huge area with camping cabins where we got our own little house. In the afternoon we amused ourselves by walking to the grocery store one kilometer away, and stock up a lot of food as we plan to stay at the Colonial Village at least 4 days.

We’ve talked a lot about the really cold weather we had during our stay in New Zealand and in Australia we really got the heat we have missed (and a bit more)! But today it was at least 35 degrees and actually a little difficult to deal with….
