A cool day on the road along Mt Taranaki
(Opunake, New Zealand, 26th of January 2017)
Breakfast was included in the hotel, which is rare in New Zealand. And what a wonderful breakfast! I had tea in a little pot with dots on and then we had to choose from four different breakfast menus.
I chose fruit salad and toast with homemade plum marmalade and Johan eggs and toast. So nice and luxurious! While we ate, we talked to the hotel owner who told us they lived in Norway and Iceland before they arrived in New Zealand 8 years ago.
Then it was time to ride again and now the head wind was back. But we had only 35 km to Opunake where we had planned to spend the night so it was no problem. The clouds were still teasing us, nor today did Taranaki appprove to be photographed. We stayed in a small mobile home in Opunake way down by the sea. Unfortunately, the water was a little too cold to swim in.In New Zealand, just like in Sweden when we have a bad summer, the water is just too cold. But it was fun to watch all those who were out surfing. For dinner, we had cooked corn on the cob and salad sitting on the floor in our little cabin. Cozy!
