Engine failure – an opportunity to meet the locals.

One day we got some problems with the engine and we ended up stranded in a small village while we were waiting for the service car. Opposite the place where we stopped was a school, and we quickly became very popular among the children. In the race package we got the first day there was a pile of “business cards”, with a picture of us and some information about the race. These cards we were supposed to hand out to people we meet along the way and all the kids att this school now has cards with our pictures and mail addresses :-).

It was in the middle of the day and very hot and we were offered by a man who worked as a tailor in a small shed next to where we stopped to accompany him to get some shade in a small hut next to the school. The children followed us there and we spoke English with them and they spoke Hindi with us- not much was understood, but we had great fun.
