Palolem beach – finally we are in paradise!
A long, beautiful white sand beach – no sun beds and charter hotels, just a few cows and dogs.
Palolem beach is in a bay surrounded by hills dotted with palm trees and on the beach there are a few beach restaurants and a lot of lifeguards. The tourist season has not yet started in Palolem so many bungalows and houses are still dressed in tarps, often yellow or blue, and some bungalows have not yet been put together.
We read somewhere that they often build up the bungalows at the start of each season instead of building sturdy houses and use them several years in a row. What remains after each season is a square foundation, some with sewage and prepared for a shower. Sometimes you see a pile of toilets standing in a corner and waiting to be installed. Fascinating but it also seems as a waste of resources and time to do the same dis- and re-mantling of complete bungalow villages yearly.
